When Discovery Channel took over title sponsorship from USPS in 2005, Lance Armstrong agreed to race for one more year and go for a record setting 7th consecutive Tour title. And that's exactly what Lance did. Led by Johan, the two wrote history together. Discovery Channel's first year was also highlighted by Paolo Savoldelli's Giro d'Italia victory. After Lance retired, Johan was tasked with finding the next Grand Tour champion, which he did in the Spaniard Alberto Contador. Two years later, in 2007, Johan guided Alberto to his first Tour victory, Johan's eighth. Joining Alberto on the podium in Paris was newly acquired teammate and 3rd place finisher American Levi Leipheimer. And for the first time in Johan's eight Tour victories, the team won the Teams Classification at the Tour. Johan proved that his formula for success worked again, this time with a different rider.
