- New Year, New Team, New Season - See the Schedule

Mark your calendars! On January 22, the new Astana Cycling Team will make its 2008 debut at the Tour Down Under. While some riders and staff are tackling Australia's toughest climbs, the rest will be in New Mexico training for the Challenge Mallorca and the Team's first US race, the Amgen Tour of California.

Racing from January to October, Team Astana will span 13 countries, putting in over 220 racing days! Plus - a special cycling year as many riders hope to represent their countries in Beijing at the Summer Olympics, shortly after the Tour de France. Good thing we have Viatcheslav "Eki" Ekimov as an Assistant Sports Director. As a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist, he'll be counted on for his priceless Olympics advice.

There will also be the annual battles for national pride at National and World Championships. The 2008 squad is proud to have four current National Champions: Levi Leipheimer - US Road Race Champion, Maxim Iglinskiy - Kazakhstan Road Race Champion, Benoit Joachim - Luxembourg Road Race Champion and Vladimir Gusev - Russia Time Trial Champion. Look for these guys out on the roads in their special National Champion kits!

And we can't forget to mention July ... When Alberto Contador teams up with Levi Leipheimer, Andreas Kloden and a strong support group in defense of his Tour title.

If there's one thing that motivates the riders, it's the support from you the fans. Whether you visit the website for daily race reports, features and photos, tune-in on the television or cheer from the side of the road, we appreciate your continued support.

Here's to a successful and safe 2008 season!
